Windows 10: Not an easy solution: How do I get my camera to work again?

Alright community, I have a tough one, that has left me baffled.I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon gen 8, with an integrated Realtek camera, that used to work fine. About a week ago, I did a factory reset on my computer, because it was time and I wanted to start over. Ever since then my camera has not been working. What's worse is; I used to be able to see it in Device Manager by enabling "View hidden items" or whatever that option is called.I am not a beginner, and I have done hundreds of reinstallations in the past, but I can't figure this one out. In most of the cases webcam might not work if it is not compatible with the generic driver or if supporting software is not installed.


I would suggest you to update the Camera drivers from the
device manger.

• Press Windows + X key and select Device manager.
  
• Select Imaging devices and select Lenovo Easy Camera.
  
• Right click and select Update the driver.
  
• Follow on screen steps and check.

If it doesn't help then I would suggest you to check in the manufacturer's website for compatible Camera drivers and install it and also any supporting webcam software:

If this doesn’t work then follow the same way and Uninstall the camera driver and restart the machine.


Windows 10 will automatically detect the Camera while you use it and installs the required drivers for it.

Lenovo Easy Camera not working

Just realized something else - Sometimes when I boot up there is no listing for camera in Device Manager - Sometimes tab for Action does not include Rescan. One time the camera was under the heading Imaging Devices and for awhile now is under Cameras.
Sometimes says "PC Camera" and now says "Lenovo Easy Camera". If I scan for hardware changes the Camera disappears but will reappear on reboot but not work. I then waited for a couple of minutes and did a rescan and voila - Camera listed with no yellow triangle.
Even though I installed a 2014 driver and tell it to update it says it can't find any.

Let’s run the Windows in built hardware troubleshooter on your computer and check if it helps.

Method 1: Hardware and Sound troubleshooter.



I suggest you to run Hardware and Sound troubleshooter
and check.

• 
  Press Windows Key + X key, Click on Control Panel.
  
• 
  Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.
  

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to uninstall the camera drivers from your computer and manually download the latest camera drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install it on your computer.
