Windows 10: Not been able to update Windows since 3 months. error 0x800f081f.

I purchased my Asus laptop PC in August. Since 3 months I've got this error 0x800f081f (something to do with .NET framerwork 3.5). I've tried pretty much everything at this point mentioned in blogs, websites and MS Forum

Things I tried :

1. Run the troubleshooter. Says it couldn't find any issues
2. Run DISM command to check integrity both online and from an iso image locally
3. Run sfc command
4. Disabled and re-enabled .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7
5. Tried to install the update through some msu package
6. Reset Windows twice (once keeping personal files, other time deleting all files).

Right now I'm stuck on trying to get the update KB4579311 and the October 2H20 update, both of which report the same error number mentioned above.

The DISM command says I've got 100% integrity with image. sfc command says it didn't find any integrity violations.

I'm not a fan of doing a very clean Windows install, so I only do Windows repairs with the OEM image which has all the drivers.

The model is Asus Zephyrus G14, and so far haven't found any others on forums who have faced this issue.

Edit : As for the msu package, it just says the update was NOT installed.

Solution for error 0x800f081f for Windows 8.1 or Windows 8

If you receive Windows Update error 0x800f081f, it means that Windows Update cannot determine the cryptographic service provider, or a file that Windows Update requires (named catalog store) is corrupted.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
Step 1: Use System File Checker to repair damaged Windows files
Use the System File Checker tool to repair damaged Windows files, and then run Windows Update again. To do this, follow these steps:

• Open an elevated command prompt.
• Run the following command:
  sfc /scannow
• Try to install update again.

For more information about the System File Checker tool, view Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.
Step 2: Run the DISM tool
If the problem continues, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to fix Windows corruption errors. To do this, follow these steps:

• Open an elevated command prompt.
• Run the following command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth.

Important When you use the /online option, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions. However, if Windows Update service is broken, don’t use the /online option. Instead, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess
Note Replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows, reference Repair a Windows Image.

KB4507453 failed with error 0x800f081f

this happens to me too and after some tests I realized (in my case) that 0x800f081f occurs when I remove/uninstall edge using install_wim_tweak tool

since I do a lot of tweaks/remove metro apps before connecting a Fresh Windows Install on Internet, I did some tests step by step on VM, formatting/reformatting/etc..

1) Fresh Win install (18362.175) -> Update KB4507453 OK (Build 18362.239)

2) Fresh Win Install (18362.175) -> Removed Apps/Win Tweaks -> Update KB4507453 OK (Build 18362.239)

3) Fresh Win Install (18362.175) -> Removed only EDGE with install_tweak_tool -> Update KB4507453 FAIL. (error 0x800f081f)

So, by elminination, EDGE was the cause of the problem in my case. I'm used to remove CONNECT too with install_tweak_tool, but I didn't test it.
