Windows 10: not being able to fix hanging or crashing apps

so i've been contemplating on whether or not to post here, seeing that this problem seems to come up with more than one person.

my problem is, in detail:
recently i purchased and installed minecraft for windows 10 onto my windows 10 laptop, then joined the beta xbox insider hub, and i am now a beta tester. minecraft version 1.12.0.11.
my windows version is is 1803, im pretty sure.

when i get in minecraft, it goes pretty well for a bit, then when i start mining a block (any block, really) after one block or so of mining, the minecraft window will turn white, gray, or a sky-blue.

i consulted previous forums posted about minecraft crashes, and troubleshooted windows store and apps, and it said "hanging and/or crashing apps, not fixed"

and then i ran cmd prompt as an administrator, and did the whole sfc /scannow
the thing was, the scan in cmd prompt said everything was fine.

im genuinely confused as to what is going on, and honestly have been contemplating just asking for a refund due to these problems that remain seen as unfixable.

When I started the troubleshooting program for Microsoft store, the troubleshoot came up with the problem of not being able to fix hanging or crashing apps. I have looked at other inquiries about hanging and crashing apps. All of them said that there needs
to be a clean install, so now my question is whether the only solution is to clean install or has there been a way to fix this.
