    Saving boot device in BIOS

    Hi Deuxdad

Please explain what you mean by you do not get to save the BIOS setting?

Have you tried clicking on Restore Defaults in BIOS, that should reset the boot device permanently

Also when you go to exit BIOS are you not asked if you wish to save the changes?

For most BIOS if you press F10, that will prompt 'Do you want to save changes and Exit BIOS', that would be worth a try . . .

  3. Windows stuck in automatic repair; Can't access BIOS/ boot menu

I've changed the boot order through both BIOS and the boot manager, as my original post stated. Neither did anything, but both were functional in the past. Neither listed the windows boot manager, either. Previously, it would boot just as expected whenever
other media was set as the first option, so I'm pretty sure there are no issues there.

As my original post suggested, I've already tried out the steps you gave. I've gone through all the options listed in the boot menu, UEFI or not.

My BIOS and boot menu settings were at their defaults when all of this started, so that's been tried already, if those are what you're referring to.

    PC won’t boot (windows 10)

    Welcome to TenForums @kini

Might I suggest you get new boot media using the MCT tool. (Media Creation Tool). Disconnect all disks except for boot disk.

Then assuming you already backed your data up, before trying to enable Bitlocker, boot to your BIOS. If not you need to try to get your data. (not sure if it will or won't be encrypted)

Reload the defaults in BIOS, save and boot with your new media. On the first screen hold shift and press F10. Command prompt should start.

    then

    diskpart

    List disk

Select disk X ( where x equals the disk number of your boot disk discovered with list disk command)

Clean (Clean takes no prisoners, it will wipe all partitions on selected disk.)

    Exit

    Exit

    Continue with clean install.
