Not sure what to do after Bios update. Blue screen after start-up press y to reset fTPM or...

I have a dell laptop and I used support assist to update it yesterday. It said there was a BIOS update and WIFI update so I proceeded to install those. Now after my laptop restarted I got a blue screen with this message -Press Y to reset fTPM, if you have BitLocker or encryption enabled, the system will not boot without a recovery keyPress N to keep previous fTPM record and continue system boot, fTPM will NOTenable in new CPY, you can swap back to the old CPY to recover TPM relatedKeys and data.I have BitLocker so I pressed N as I don't really understand what this means? But now I

  2. fTPM/PSP NV corrupted or fTPM/PSP NV structure changed. Press Y to reset fTPM

    Hello community
This error that occurs on an irregular basis maybe once a month on average: "fTPM/PSP NV corrupted or fTPM/PSP NV structure changed. Press Y to reset fTPM"

This is very annoying because it takes several tries for the BIOS to understand when I press 'Y' so I need to hard reset the computer several times and then it takes 10 minutes after rebooting itself several times to start up instead of the 4 seconds startup.

The motherboard Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme was very expensive to me €550,-- bought in February 2023 with a 5900X AMD processor and all other high-end components inside.

Why is this happening, I don't think I'm using bitlockerr unless this is one of those encryption problem Windows is forcing on me. How can I fix it?

    Kind regards.

fTPM and blue screen problems after updating BIOS to latest version

    Hi Dave!

    Thanks for helping me out!

Just to update, the first error that showed up is gone, but now I'm having several other "blue screens" not related to this first. Like "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" and "PFN LIST CORRUPT" blue screens.

    The synthoms are:

Every time I let my BIOS boot with the fTPM option, the blue screen appears. If I enter BIOS and change to discrete TPM, windows starts normally.

But BIOS keeps swapping back to fTPM all the time! I don't have any bitlocker activated, but if I disable TPM at all on BIOS, the system cannot be booted too, returning a different blue screen (percentage trying to repair).

    1.

    I'll check that...

I used to have a different wifi usb dongle here, maybe I left his driver installed...

    2.

Here is the link for the Minidump files you asked me.

Microsoft reset fTPM Bitlocker encryption message after Dell BIOS update

Not sure what to do after Bios update. Blue screen after start-up press y to reset fTPM or... gIbQLdMW1xqF5rqPDyOTBm1KZlsPxAi8eMBgCaXu%2Fec48MHsIYcBIRQuycfj%2BKRnK8Bkvn%2BpVMj8DVdjJKjp8EU%3D.jpg
During my most recent Microsoft Update, the update included an update of the Dell BIOS from 1.12.0 to 1.13.0. After the BIOS update, every time that I reboot my Dell laptop, I get the following message in a blue screen: "Press Y to reset fTPM, if you have Bitlocker or encryption-enabled system. the system will not boot without a recovery key. Press N to keep previous fTPM record and continue system boot. fTPM will NOT be enabled with new CPU unless fTPM is reset (reinitialized). you could swap back to the old CPU to recover TPM related keys and data."

I have been pressing N because I am not certain that I have the correct recovery key. When I press N, my system seems to work properly, but it appears as if "Device encryption is temporarily suspended" and that there is no TPM (Trusted Platform Module) available and that my device may be vulnerable. The recovery key is 48 characters.

    1. What happens if I press Y and the recovery key is incorrect or if I enter the 48 characters incorrectly? Will my system become bricked?

    2. If I press Y and the recovery key is incorrect, will I have an opportunity to try again to enter the recovery key correctly?

    3. If I press Y and the recovery key is incorrect, will I have an opportunity to try again and just press N to use my system without device encryption?

    4. Does the process of updating the BIOS make the system think that it has a new CPU?

    5. How do I reset fTPM in accordance with the blue screen message?

System is Dell Inspiron 15-3525 with Windows 11.
