Windows 10: Not sure what to title this but having problem with Windows password.........

So, my issue is I want to be able to see passwords saved by Windows. When I get to the screen showing the list of sites and passwords on the right there's the eye symbol which normally you'd click and it'd display the password. For security Windows asks for my Windows password. I tried 3 passwords which I thought it could be any one of but none apparently were correct. So, I found a link to change the password and did so. Now I still can't sign in to Windows, says the password is incorrect?????How's that possible?

You can reset your password following the next steps:

• Reboot your computer / Turn your computer on.
• Hold down the Shift key at the start of the boot process to enable the GNU GRUB boot menu (if it does not show)
• Press ESC at the GNU GRUB prompt.
• Press e for edit.
• Use the Arrow keys to highlight the line that begins with kernel and press the e key.
• Go to the very end of the line and add rw init=/bin/bash
• Press Enter and then press b to boot your system.
• Your system will boot up to a passwordless root shell.
• Type in passwd yourusername
• Set your new password.
• Restart your system.
