Windows 10: Not updating a build on Home

This is an academic question rather than any desire to do so.

Suppose I wanted to skip a build on Home for whatever reason, I know you can disable updates but that stops all updates.

Now I know that if you install a build in a virtual hard drive, you cannot do a build upgrade but you still get normal security and cumulative updates.

My question is what will happen if you do this - the build upgrades get downloaded at least once but the installer will refuse to install it. So will it keep trying to reinstall it, will it keep redownloading files etc.?

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried unpinning and repinning. I also tried to delete and recreate the Facebook account. So far neither has worked. My wife also has a Samsung Focus. I set her phone up the same as mine, but she gets the updates
without any problems. My phone just displays their profile picture on the tile, but that's it.

If the info is making it to the People Hub correctly, then I would recommend unpinning the tile for each family member in question, then re-pin them.

Currently some of the computers that I use have frozen windows versions. The builds had continued to update.
For Windows 10 version 1607 the build is 14393.1914
For Windows 10 version 1703 the build is 15063.726
At unpredictable times windows will attempt to upgrade the version and will fail. However the builds get updated by automatic windows updates.
Windows defender can always be updated manually if you have additional security concerns.
So there is no on off switch and this is a trade off for those that don't want to upgrade.
To upgrade these computers it would require fixing the problems found in the Panther logs.
