Windows 10: Notepad being phased out; why?

Discus and support Notepad being phased out; why? in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; I finally let Microsoft win and upgraded to Windows 11.     Notepad being phased out; why?


    I finally let Microsoft win and upgraded to Windows 11. When I tried to open Notepad, I got a message saying Notepad will be removed in the future. Notepad is an essential part of Windows and I still use it regularly; what kind of decision is this? Is Microsoft trying to bring back the dumb terminal architecture they so diligently forced out?Microsoft, please hear this, the direction you are heading is likely to cost you many customers.

    I suggest you to follow the steps provided below:

    • Open Task Manager. Here’s a tip: press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
    • Click on Startup tab.
    • Select Notepad from the list and click on Disable.

    I followed your suggestion but wasn't able to find Notepad listed on the startup. There are some listed as program but don't know which ones it could be.

    Notepad being phased out; why?

    Notepad on Windows 7\

    Suggestion would be uninstall then new install on Win7. Maybe an older version would work better? A list, maybe Version 7?
