Windows 10: Notepad Broken.

When I woke up this morning notepad had updated itself to the tabbed version on my main pc, but it's being real buggy on this pc. My other one has updated itself with the new notepad but no issues. Also tried reinstalling and restarting pc, still having issues. The problem happens when I type past the 'first page' and the scrollbar is supposed to appear. It closes itself without saving and sometimes even reopens a new window as if recovering from a crash. The problem on the particular instance goes away if I maximize the window; then I could get the

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below:

• Open Task Manager. Here’s a tip: press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
• Click on Startup tab.
• Select Notepad from the list and click on Disable.

I followed your suggestion but wasn't able to find Notepad listed on the startup. There are some listed as program but don't know which ones it could be.

 

Notepad on Windows 7\

Suggestion would be uninstall then new install on Win7. Maybe an older version would work better? A list, maybe Version 7?
