    notepad does not work properly


    I run Windows 10 on PC. In notepad I pressed Enter long time wanting to free the print field in advance. After this "hourglass" lasted so long that I decided to kill notepad and clicked the cancel cross in the upper right corner. A dialog box appeared: kill application or wait. I clicked Kill. After that I restored previous version of the same text file. Then I installed update of Windows and shut down my PC. After I started my PC again my notepad did not work properly with the same text file. If I try to use Find ctrl/F and click Find next text moves down but no text is highlighted and no

    Notepad getting stuck

    Hi,

    Kayece here, An Independent advisor and a user just like you. I will be happy to assist you today.

    I understand that your notepad is not functioning properly after you have accidentally opened a notepad file. Please restart your device and see if the notepad is working again.

    If you still have the same, I suggest repairing your Notepad app. Follow the steps below.

    Press Win logo key + Q to open the search box and type Notepad> right-click Notepad at the top of the result list > App settings > Repair. Then restart your device.

    If the issue still persists, please follow the steps again, and this time choose reset. After resetting, please restart your device again.

    Notepad on Windows 7\

    Suggestion would be uninstall then new install on Win7. Maybe an older version would work better? A list, maybe Version 7?

    Well I found the answer to my question. I should have thought through this a little longer.

    Notepad is native in ANSI mode.
    However Wordpad can work in UTF-8 mode.
    I found steps to make Notepad usable in UTF-8 mode but there are a lot of steps and once again there has to be a registry hack to make it work.
    Now how do I make Workpad be listed in the most used application through the Start Menu?
