    Notepad doesn't save name instead save window comes up with *.txt how do I fix it? also...


    My notepad works most of the time but sometimes recently I will name a notepad and it isn't saved but the save as window comes up with *.txt where I had just typed the name of the notepad and the NP isn't saved. Also, some NPs I have saved come up as being an MS-DOS Application .COM, instead of Text files and are unreadable instead and if I try to open it this comes up. This App can't run on your PC To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher I uninstalled and reinstalled Notepad but that didn't help, I just scanned a

    Hi, Laura,

    can you describe the exact steps to reproduce problem?

    What I did. Ran notepad, created an saved 123.txt file. Than Save as, type 1 - Notepad shows 123.txt. I've closed Notepad, deleted this file, than ran Notepad again select Save as, press 1 - Notepad did not show me the name of that file.

    Unable to Save/Save As/Open in Notepad (Windows 10 pro)

    As of 11/23/19 I have been unable to save anything I type/create in Notepad. When I click on Save As the notepad I was working on just closes out and disappears, almost as if I had opened Notepad, clicked the red X and it goes away. Normally when you
    click Save As a box comes up allowing to determine where you want to save and how you want to name the file. That doesn't even show up. Even when I click on Open it does the same thing. I have older .txt files on my desktop that I can open just fine - I
    haven't tried editing them and saving because I'm afraid I'll lose the file. There are no error messages that come up when this happens.

    My Notepad wont save Host Files,

    when i edit them in notepad and click Ctrl+S It takes it to 'Save as ' instead of saving directly, It does not modify the host files , Instead try to save i as Txt file
