Windows 10: Notepad has disabled the Search function under Windows 11

Notepad has disabled the Search function under Windows 11 nice going Microsoft!. I am on a corporate system so I cannot change or download anything. I am at the mercy of our IT department which is not very helpful. Microsoft needs to fix this problem now! Take ownership of your mistakes.

Disable Search Function

Greetings all,

I need to disable the Search function in Windows 10 Pro. Upgraded from Windows 7, where the Search function was listed as a feature and could be disabled as one through the Control Panel. Apparently not so in Win 10 as it's not listed as feature.

I can disable Cortana and using the Search function to search the web,but in need of disabling the Search function entirely. Computer is in a public environment and needs to be locked down. The unit has only one purpose and that is accessed through the browser.

I am unable to find a way through the Policy settings and through PowerShell.

• Open Task Manager. Here’s a tip: press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
• Click on Startup tab.
• Select Notepad from the list and click on Disable.

windows 11 search function not working

Sadly method 1 does nothing at all.

I have reinstalled windows 11 twice now, and the search function briefly worked again, but after a windows update the search function has stopped again. Twice! I have tried all the other suggested methods without any success.
