    Notepad on W11 asking me to save all files upon closing at random


    I like to open Notepad, open a new tab, write some notes and close it without manually saving for the day. The next day I open it and it will just resume everything. However at random when I am closing Notepad, it will ask me to save all the tabs that aren't saved. I have in settings "When Notepad starts" to be "Continue previous session". Why is it so inconsistent? Windows Notepad 11.2410.20.0

    Possible that you accidentally save the files in a different file extension name.

    In order for us to resolved your concern, we need to ask some information to isolate the issue.

    1. How do you save the file in Notepad? It's better to provide the step by step procedure on how do you save the file.

    2. How do you search your saved Notepad file?

    3. Is it all files saved in Notepad that you cannot find after saving?

    4. Are you getting an error message when you try to find the files saved in Notepad?

    Need to Move All W10 Notepad Files to W11

    Did you try searching the computer? Go to search and type in *.*txt and press Enter. If you computer has been indexed for Search, it should list every Notepad file on the computer and where it is located. If you have given any Notepad file you saved a name, you can also search by File Name, and if search finds it, it should list location where all of your Notepad files are. As stated, save them to a USB Flash Drive and move them to the Windows 11 computer.
