Windows 10: Notepad & Paint alternatives that save size of each window?

Just spent 30 seconds downloading Greenshot and 30 minutes uninstalling it without ever being able to open and use it, so guess I'll stay with MS "fix what's not broken" snipping tool. Which saving as Paint files I use a LOT, and Notepad even more. __Both of which serve 99% of my varied purposes, but are there any alternatives to these that SAVE THE WINDOW SIZE instead of resetting some completely unrelated window to the size of the last window opened?

Cannot edit images when saved in Fresh paint

Hi Kamila,

As per the information, I understand that when you save an image drawn in Fresh Paint, you are unable to edit the image once saved.

If the above is true, I suggest that you follow the steps below to save the image in a manner that will allow you to edit it.

• To save your painting right click on fresh paint and click on
  Save as. You will get an option to select the location.
• Select the location and save the painting.
• When you reopen fresh paint you will be on the painting you used before closing fresh paint. If you do not get the painting, you may click on image and go to the location and select the image to edit.

Paint & Notepad won't allow exit - forces save as

What scripted text? I wrote out all of these posts after researching your problem. So are you saying you didnt' even try the steps before giving me a bad rating, and now you've given me another one.?

I had the same problem when I opened Paint and Notepad as you. I found a fix that is to click on the File tab, then choose Save As, then Other Formats. This opens a box I canceled, which then allows me to X out of the Paint window from it's top right corner.
Did you try this?

I think I just stumbled upon the solution, if you don't mind my continuiing for a moment more.

It was prompted by this thread I was researching when you vetoed my post and removed me from helping you:

So in Paint and Notepad I went into the blue File tab and place the cursor on Save As choice, let it expand, scroll down to choose Other formats. This opens a Save As box which I canceled. Now (for some reason) I can X out of Paint and Notepad from the open
WIndow without any popup.
