Windows 10: Notepad showing gibberish characters after copying to a different device

All my notepad content after moving to a new device opening showing gibberish characters in ANSI mode, based on reading few blogs I have tried opening in UTF-8, Unicode and Unicode with Big endian it still shows in gibberish characters.


Windows 10 Notepad version 1803.


This not only with Notepad, all pdf, word and excel shows as file corrupted. Kindly help me getting out of these issues.

To verify that this is strictly a notepad bug, you can open a new empty notepad, open this file in wordpad where it is readable, copy-paste all contents to your empty notepad and save as ANSI. When you reopen with notepad, it will show gibberish! So it seems
that notepad will read the specific content and try to open it as UTF8. If you change a single character, or even omit a space, the file is read properly in notepad!

 

Windows 10 v1803 cannot copy paste Chinese characters

I don't know why, It's strange!!!

1. Every time I restarted my PC. Open a Notepad, input some Chinese characters with some English characters. Then, copy and paste them in Notepad, find that only English characters are copied while Chinese characters are lost. Then open the Microsoft Word
2016, the situation is the same, copy paste will lost non-English characters.

2. I tried following step, then the Windows 10 can copy and paste Chinese characters.

• Press the 'Windows + R' keys together

• In the 'Open' window input 'WinWord /a', and press Enter.

Then the Microsoft Word was opened. I input some Chinese characters with some English characters, and then copy and paste them, found that Chinese characters can be copied!!! Then I closed Word, opened the Notepad again, inputted some
Chinese characters with some English characters, found that Chinese characters also could be copied in Notepad!!!

I don't know why, It's so strange!!!

 

Notepad showing gibberish for specific file content only!

I am experiencing a very weird notepad issue... I have an application that generates tabular data in text files and all files normally look OK in Notepad. However, one file seems to show Chinese characters, as if it was encoded in UTF-8-bom, which is not
the case!

Note that if I open the file in other editors (e.g. excel, notepad++) everything looks fine.

To make things even weirder, if I open the file in notepad++ and change the content by a single character (e.g. add a space somewhere), it is then readable in notepad! But if I delete that character and save again, it becomes again not readable...

It seems that notepad is somehow assessing the wrong encoding, based on some random evaluation of the content, or MD5 hash or something! Is this even possible?

I am at a complete loss here.

PS1: I tried opening the file in different computers with different OS (win7/win10) and the problem exists everywhere.

PS2: I'd be happy to attach the text file, but not sure where to do this.
