Windows 10: Nothing happens, certain apps will not open and will say failed connection try again.

this has been going on for months, where my taskbar weather and news will not open. when you click on it, it says we're having trouble loading your feed try again. then when I try to use the get help app, it says to try again later something went wrong. then when I try to load any Xbox app it will never load anything up and will continue to say fail, with a sad face. also on these certain apps, the buttons do not even work. I will click sign in on different pages and the button does not even respond. I've tried restarting, and my windows key+x also doesn't seem to want to work.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

How to change default app to open certain file types.

It's not as simple as it seems
Although it's easy as pie to change default apps by type file, but how to do it if I want to use app that's not on the default Window list?
Like in this example,



File is opened by IE but I have installed in my system programme called Notepad++ and I want it to open .xml files whenever i double click on them. But Notepad++ is not on the Windows list



So how to set this up to open .xml files with Notepad++?
