Windows 10: notifications button freezing taskbar

Whenever i click the notifications button, my taskbar freezes completely and i can't click anything else at all not even the windows key works once it freezes i have to either, sign out or restartany solution to fix this?

Volume button is invisible on taskbar.

You can customize which icons to appear on the taskbar. Based on the information you have provided it possible that the volume was not set to appear on the taskbar. To customize the taskbar notification area, you can refer to the steps below:

• On the Start menu, type Settings, and then hit Enter.
  
• Under Notification area, click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
  
• Click Volume button to toggle it on or off.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.
