Nov Win 10 Update Causes Issue Where Display Will Not Initiate After Sleep Mode - Forced to...

The November 2020 Win 10 update recently was applied to my system. Since this update, anytime my computer enters sleep mode I must reboot my computer in order for the display to work. Basically the display turns off with sleep mode and when I awake the computer it does not reinitialize the monitor to display. I have tried turning just the monitor off and back on again, but this does not help. The computer must be fully shut down and restarted in order for the monitor display to work again properly. I am using an HDMI connection.

What can be done to address this issue? Having to hard reboot my computer throughout the day is not optimal. Until these updates were applied yesterday I had absolutely no problems.

    :)

  3. win 10 sleep mode always deadlock

    Hi Fei,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I will do my best to fix the issue.

To assist you better I would like to know, what is the make and model of the computer?

The issue you are facing could be due to the display driver is being outdated. Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

    Method 1.

I recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the display driver and check. Follow the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device manager
      .

    • Locate for display adapter and click on it to expand.

    • Right click on the device and click on
      uninstall
      .

    • Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic display driver.
If this doesn’t help to fix the issue. I suggest you to update the display driver. Skip step3 from the above steps and right click on the
    device and click on update.

    Method 2.

If the above method did not help to fix the issue, I would suggest you to
go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest display adapter driver. If the display driver is not available for Windows 10, try installing the available driver in compatibility mode and check.

    • Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    • Select Compatibility tab.

    • Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

    • Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
Hope it helps. Keep posting us with the status we will be glad to help you.

Sleep mode not working right in Win 10

Tried this and it says I have the latest driver installed. I have also installed all updates for Win 10 and it still will not wake properly. It seems to start when I open the cover of my HP G60 but nothing but blank screen. Must cold boot to recover.
