    NTDATuser and modification

Hello to all of the community,I am baffled by a recent event on our family computer. The file NTuser.dat indicated "Modified by Me" except no one in my family has touched the file nor does the computer have the apps required to open it. Is there any possibility a third-party software or other accessing and modifying the file, such as Bitdefender, or CCleaner or any other? It is running on Windows 11.Thank you for helping me clearing this up.

    :)

Modification date of link files (lnk) is updated when clicked, and if they are in a toolbar

I'm on Windows 10, and I customized a toolbar in my taskbar, with links to programs (Notepad, Paint, Calc, ...). The steps I followed are:

    • Create a folder MyToolbar
    • In this folder, add the shortcuts to notepad.exe (notepad.lnk) and mspaint.exe (mspaint.lnk)
    • Right click on the taskbar, chose Toolbar, then New Toolbar
    • Chose the folder MyToolbar
    • A new toolbar is created in the taskbar
Every time I click on one of these icons to launch a program, for example Notepad, the modification date of notepad.lnk in the folder MyToolbar is updated.

This is annoying: because of this behavior, the synchronization program I use updates this file each time I click on it.

Can you reproduce this bug? Any solution?

Suggest: Download the installer for the same version of thunderbird that you already have and run the setup file performing an "over the top" install.

I didn't open or change the files, but the file modification date changes

    Dear Microsoft Support,

I've noticed an issue on my laptop where file modification dates are changing, even though I haven't opened or modified these files. I'm wondering if this could be caused by a system software update. Has this issue been reported by other users?

    Specifically, I'd like to know:

    1. Can system updates affect file modification dates?
    2. Are you aware of any similar cases?

    Thank you for your assistance.
