  1. ntuser.dat in C:\ProgramData?

ntuser.dat file is in my ProgramData folder. I can't say if it is caused by apps or not - ntuser.dat is located in any user folder like SYSTEM, regular user, and I have no idea what is it doing there, was it created by Windows Update or apps, since I did not download or install any app for over 6 months. If I turn off 'Hide protected system files', I can see there are some REGTRANS-MS and BLF files. And also some files with LOG1 and LOG2 extensions, also named as ntuser.dat.LOG1 or ntuser.dat.LOG2. The ones with REGTRANS-MS and BLF file extensions are named a bit weird - they have some long G

    ProgramData-filder backup

    Hi,

The ProgramData folder is usually located in the C: drive of your device. To locate the ProgramData folder, you can perform the following:

    • In File Explorer, click on the View tab.
    • Click on Options.
    • In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab.
    • Under the Hidden files and folders, select Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
    • Click on Apply.
    • Click on OK.

Let us know how it goes after you've performed the steps.

  3. There is no qmgr*.dat anywhere on my computer

I am attempting to follow the steps found
    here
to reset windows update components. The first step is to stop bits and windows update service, and to delete the file "qmgr*.dat*

    Here is my command prompt:

    Code:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.677]

    (c) 2018 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>net stop bits

The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service is stopping..

The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service was stopped successfully.

    C:\Windows\system32>net stop wuauserv

The Windows Update service is stopping.

The Windows Update service was stopped successfully.

    C:\Windows\system32>Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"

    Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

    C:\Windows\system32>dir /s /a /b /p C:\qmgr*.dat

    File Not Found

    C:\Windows\system32>
As you can see, at first it could not find it in the directory specified in the microsoft guide. When I attempted to find the directory myself, I found that I have no folder called Application Data in my ProgramData folder. I found
another post which mentioned that the qmgr.dat might be somewhere else, so I next did the "dir /s /a /b /p C:\qmgr*.dat" command, which as you can see resulted in the qmgr.dat file not being found anywhere.
What does this mean? The guide does say to delete this file, but the fact that it didn't exist to begin with makes me dubious as to whether or not I should continue to follow the guide as it is or if there is some deeper problem
that I need to fix first.

    ntuser.dat in C:\ProgramData?

Control Panel Uninstall will not show folders in C:\ProgramData

    Hi,

I was trying to use Program Uninstall in Control Panel to get rid of PC Cleaner Pro that is in C:\ProgramData . It wasn't in the list of Programs. It appears that the only programs in the list are in C:\Program Files. Is there any safe way to get Control
Panel to access and remove programs in C:\ProgramData? I have Windows 10 Home Version 1607.

    THANKS!!!
