  1. NUC10i7FNH hdmi audio device reverts to stereo

I have a new NUC10i7FNH with Windows 10, and making 5.1 audio work with the HDMI output is giving me fits. Originally, I connected the NUC to a TV, and it set up the audio as "stereo". Even after connecting the NUC to a Denon AVR, the sound systray showed 5.1 and 7.1 options disabled and insisted that the device was "Samsung TV". I tried uninstalling the device and letting it be rediscovered, but it always came back as Samsung TV, even though I was connected to the Denon. Finally I reset Windows 10 to factory, let is reinstall everything, and it came back with the audio device as "Denon". Yay! This worked for a while, but for some reason it reverted to "Samsung TV" again, and only plays stereo. Once again, removing the device makes no difference -- it always comes back as "Samsung TV". Is there any way to force the driver to believe that 5.1 audio is supported?

UPDATE: I've since added an HDMI/SPDIF splitter into the mix, which can force 5.1 audio EDID, so that the PC only "sees" a 5.1 audio device. This however also makes no difference. It still thinks the device is "Samsung TV". I suspect that there is some caching of EDID details by key, deep in the registry, and if only I could find it and destroy it, Windows might rediscover the real device.

    :)

HDMI audio driver for ASUS X551M laptop?

This is from Intel regarding hdmi:
    • Install the latest Intel® Graphics Driver, this also installs the latest audio codecs for HDMI.
    • After driver installation, connect to the HDMI TV or digital display, using a HDMI cable.
    • Select HDMI audio as your default playback device. Click Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound.
    • Click Sound. The Playback tab lists the audio playback devices for your computer.
    • Right-click on the device for HDMI audio, and select Set as Default Device.

NUC10i7FNH hdmi audio device reverts to stereo

No HDMI audio output in Device Manager

The above step did not work for me. The windows audio troubleshooting tool did not fix anything.

Hi, I have the same issue. I have a Toshiba P75-A7200 laptop, I think a recent update to windows 10 removed it, because it wont even show in my available playback device list. My intel drivers are installed
and my audio drivers as well, but HDMI audio wont show up. I have tried this on other TVs with different HDMI cables with no luck.
