    Original Title: repeating 7s

    I have a Dell all-in-one desktop that's currently two years old. A few days ago, I noticed web address bars would automatically fill with the number 7 and repeat until the box was completely filled. Also, when I restart, the box for entering my password
    is also pre-filled with dots that equal the number 7. (I have Windows10)

    Three different online Dell techs have remotely taken over my computer to try and find the problem and fix it. None have succeeded.

    They just tell me to keep monitoring the situation. The first tech left a sticky note for me after I had ended my phone call.

    After clicking on it to read, after her last typed word, the number 7 started automatically repeating. It's most distracting to see this going on and on.

    Any clues for help? I've tried deleted programs, disk cleanups, defrag, etc. Dell updated drivers, too. Nothing stops this situation.

    Hi,

    Thank you for getting back with a reply.

    This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
    the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
      Command prompt (Admin)       to bring up elevated Command prompt.
    • In Command prompt type sfc/scannow and press enter.
    • Restart the computer.
    If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

    • Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
    • In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    • Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

    Number 7 repeating on address bar and password box in Windows 10

    I have tried everything to stop the number 7 from automatically appearing in each and every available typing box. Sometimes it will appear as a single digit in front of and to begin anything I'm about to type for a web address.

    Other times, it will continue multiple typing into a search box.

    I am giving up on trying fixes and am buying a new keyboard and mouse.

    If this doesn't solve the problem, I am ditching this 2-year-old Dell All-in-One Desktop.
