Windows 10: Nvidia Control Panel not opening after Windows 10 Update: "Application is not compatible...

So this is the second time this has happened to me, and I don't remember how exactly I fixed this the last time around. I always delay Windows updates for as long as possible because they always seem to just create problems for me. After I was finally forced to allow the updates, I can no longer open Nvidia Control Panel. I get an error message saying "Application is not compatible with installed NVIDIA Driver. To open the compatible application, right click on desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel in the menu. View more information."

I tried going to device manager, uninstalling my driver, and reinstalling it. Didn't work. Not sure what else to do. Anyone know how to fix this?

Install the latest Nvidia driver "on top" of the Windows 10 driver, updating it.

I cannot seem to get the nvidia control panel (system tray)
I tried everything I could think of:

- Nvidia driver uninstall + device uninstall + change device auto install drivers in hardware settings + clean install... no joy...
- Windows automatically installs some nvidia drivers, no matter what I try and I can't see or find the control panel.

Any suggestions?

• In the Type a name for this shortcut box, type Control Panel, and click Finish button. You can now double-click on the Control Panel icon on the desktop to quickly launch the same.

Step 5: Pin Control Panel to Start or taskbar.

  In the Start search box, type Control Panel.
  
• 
  When you see search results, right-click on Control Panel entry and then click Pin to Start to pin it to the Start menu or screen.
  

Note: Clicking Pin to taskbar will pin the Control Panel to taskbar.
