Windows 10: Nvidia Display driver crases during gaming with report nvlddmkm!!

Hallo. Today i experienced a crash during gaming. The report was that the driver stopped responding!

frequent windows event 4101(Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.)

MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X 8GB.

After reading a few more peoples woes with the same problem, I used DDU to fully uninstall NVidia drivers in safe mode and set system to not allow Microsoft to update drivers and then reinstalled the latest NVidia drivers.

Apparently after NVidia drivers are installed for some reason Microsoft is updating the nvlddmkm file which is causing the problem.

So far so good with no 4101 Events.

And of course I am getting Event Viewer Warnings for Event ID 122: Access to drivers on Windows Update was blocked by policy but atm it is a small price to pay for no Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered problems in games

This is a known issue with recent NVIDIA drivers

This can be caused by old driver data being left behind when a driver is updated.Go to the Nvidea website and download the applicable driver for your card.Make sure the CLEAN INSTALL checkbox is ticked { this should erase all old driver data.}Use the CUSTOM install,NOT the Express.Don't forget to create a restore point first!

 

I use to uninstall my old drivers with DDU and then proceed to the instalation of new drivers!

 

Greetings Ten Forums, this is my first post and hope its not in violation of post/thread starting guidelines. Look forward to interacting with you'll on here over the W10 era.

The display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding issue with gaming for me was resolved by running the well known Windows Repair Tool and lowering the resolution both on desktop, and in game (with the same resolutions on both of couse), during the times I wanted to play without crashing. A week has passed now and since changing resolution I have had no issues. I understand this may be variable computer to computer, but I've helped a few people I know personally now with it and wanted to pass it on.
