Nvidia, Span Multiple Monitors, "Store" problem

If you are running multiple monitors with Nvidia cards, you can span multiple monitors. In order to do that you need to use the Nvidia Control Panel.

When you select a change in the Nvidia Control Panel, it will check to see if any utility is running that might cause problems. For some reason, when I try to span monitors, or any other changes, I get a message the "Store" is running and I need to shut it down before making any changes.

I could swear when I first installed this system, yesterday, it did not show that utility and allowed me to span the monitors. When I tried to go back to individual monitors, I first saw the situation.

I have used the Windows 10 drivers 340.52 and the latest from Nvidia, 344.11, and both behave the same way.

The only store related process I see is the WWAHost.exe and I have tried ending that task without change. It may not even be referring to the Windows Store, but I see nothing else to shutdown. I use a Local account and have only installed one App. I suppose I will try uninstalling the App to see if it helps, but I can think of nothing else right now. I have already taken the system back to basic video and let Windows install the Nvidia driver.

Nvidia seems to have a feedback site for the Windows 10 Technical Preview and I have sent them the info.

If anyone has any thoughts or experience, please advise. When I was able to span the monitors, it seemed to work fine.

    :)

Windows 10 + Eyefinity = start menu error

Ok! Good to know that Nvidia Surround has the same issue as Eyefinity.

I am currently in an email conversation with AMD support. But so far its just general instructions like reinstall drivers haha. Hopefully I will get somewhere with support as soon as we have passed all the basic questions.

    Windows 10 Horizontal Span

I'm a professional editor. I just upgraded to Windows 10, and I am using multiple monitors (2). I cannot get any of my program windows to span across both monitors. This is a necessity for my work flow, and it will be tedious that every time I open an Adobe
    program, to create my workspace.

Is there anyway to use horizontal span in Windows 10? I'm reading conflicting results.

My graphic card is Nvidia Quadro M4000.

    Any support will help.

    Thanks

Nvidia, Span Multiple Monitors, "Store" problem

I have noticed other folks are having some of the same problems, although not always with the "Store" indication.

To test, I did a clean install and the Nvidia panel worked fine until I just opened and closed the Microsoft store app. After that, it was broken.

I suppose I will just wait and see, since the problem has been reported to both Microsoft and Nvidia, if anything gets done.

If your Nvidia Control panel will not open, end the task for the "Nvidia User Experience Driver Component" and it will pop right up.

I may have found a workaround, in case anyone is interested. It has worked for me several times.

Restart your system and log in. Quickly open Task Manager and End Task on the Nvidia User Experience Driver Component, then quickly open the Nvidia Control Panel and select the option you need. The "Close these programs" notification should not block the operation unless you do have some programs actually open.

My system breaks every time I open the Store, so hopefully someone will offer a fix soon.

I had the same problem with AMD ccc. It won't install. But when I did windows update, the native graphics driver was able to run my 4 monitors so I just kept it like until a new driver from amd is ready.

That is interesting, I was only looking for Nvidia solutions since I was unaware other utilities were having the same problem.

It seems Microsoft has changed the way the Store interacts with the OS. Since it now starts when Windows starts these utilities may not be expecting it to be there. But shutting it down in the Task Manager, even though it is suspended, does not help and is still recognized for some reason as still running..

Other folks are seeing other utilities mentioned in the shutdown warning dialog so there may be something in general about maybe even having moved the Start screen involved, but just guessing until it is fixed. But right now, the Windows 10 version of the Nvidia driver and the new one on the Nvidia site have the same problem.

Nvidia, Span Multiple Monitors, "Store" problem

I believe I have determined the problem only manifests on Clean installs. It appears the presence of the "Store" process showing in the Background Processes of Task Manager may be involved.
@badrobot, I saw a thread in the Microsoft forum where some folks had success installing the AMD drivers if they did it manually and only installed the driver and catalyst utility.

    Thanks @Saltgrass .
I will check it out. But so far the native driver is working fine. No immediate need for AMD.
    Cheers!

The new build, 9860 did not fix this problem and actually made it worse. Now if I try to select a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel for a spanned display, the system Bluescreens complaining about cdd.dll.

Booting to Safe Mode and uninstalling the Display Adapters in Device Manager will usually allow the system to boot back into Windows.
