Windows 10: nvlddmkm.sys cannot be found

Hello,I've been running into this error code several times over the past several months. It's actually hard to remember when this started happening, but it's been going on for a while, and it's recently come to be a much more serious problem than ever after the recent Windows 10 update. Games like Grounded, Stolen Realms, Baldurs Gate 3 among others crash two to five minutes after booting the game, and each one comes with a set of similar error codes revolving around nvlddmkm.sys.The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is

What driver versions have you tried currently for your graphics?
If it is the newest version, 361.43, try rolling back the drivers.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
   • Double click the executable to open it
   • Click on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

 

Getting nvlddmkm error in event viewer, game crashing

1) Run Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
At least 8 runs

2) run administrative command prompt:
sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
chkdsk /x /f /r
For the chkdsk it will require a reboot and may take many hours. Plan to run it overnight.
To view the chkdsk results run administrative command prompt or powershell: get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt
