NVMe Device Not Booting Windows Even After Re-Enabling CSM

Hello there,I’m experiencing an issue with my NVMe device. After disabling Compatibility Support Module CSM in the BIOS, my NVMe drive was no longer recognized, so I re-enabled CSM. However, even with CSM enabled again, the BIOS still doesn’t boot Windows from the NVMe drive.Could you please advise on the steps I should take to restore the boot functionality for my NVMe device? Any specific BIOS settings or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your assistance

    :)

  2. Windows refuses to install on NVME SSD (Samsung 960 EVO)

First, thanks everyone who copy-pasted the first relevant results they found in Google. I found those before I asked the question.

The solution that I got to work is as follows:

    • Disable CSM / UEFI
    • Enable Secure Boot
    • Now the installer can access the NVME SSD
      • Format the drive
      • Restart the machine

    • Enable CSM / UEFI

    • Disable Secure Boot

    • Proceed to installer and now Windows will allow you to install to the NVME SSD drive

Disabling CSM and enabling secure boot makes my Boot drive disappear.

Windows 11 upgrade requires I enable secure boot on my PC, it's main use is as a home Plex Server, It has an Intel 8700k and I just use the integrated graphics UHD 630, I don't need a discreet gpu for this. I believe W11 supports this.

In the BIOS (gigabyte z370 motherboard) the Storage Boot Option & Other PCI Devices are set to UEFI mode.

To enable 'Secure Boot' I have to disable CSM support, which I do and enable secure boot but when my PC reboots it goes back to set up and there is no boot drives listed, I have to return the bios back to the original for my drives to show up, the Boot drive is a nvme Samsung 980 pro.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thx.
