Windows 10: NVMe SSD from a windows computer; placed it in a enclosure can't access

I removed my m.2 NVMe SSD from a windows computer; placed it in a enclosure; plugged it into the USB port of a different windows computer. I entered the 48-digit key and it opened right up. I used it when I plug it in. The laptop dings as if it reads the USB, but nothing shows up like before. Both the SSD NVMe SAMSUNG and the Best Buy enclosure I have it in show up in the Device Manager, but I can’t get to the data. Help

Hi, it is a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 nvme in a USB m.2 nvme enclosure.

I have updated all motherboard and USB drivers, no change. Please advise possible next steps...

USB thumb drives work fine.

How to clone NVMe M2 to Nvme M2 (with single slot in computer) ?

The 1TB SSD is about 60% full of critical Data and I have no place to copy this data to. Thus I can not risk the SSD loosing this data.
As I mentioned, I put the new 4TB NVME in an USB enclosure but it was not recognized by windows.
Blast2020 suggested a similar device, Sabrent USB 3.1 Aluminum Enclosure for M.2 NVMe SSD. So unless the enclosure I used was at fault, I do not see Blast2020's suggestion helpful.
I want to Partition the new 4TB NVME then copy from the live OS on the 120GB NVME to the 4TB NVME, if that is possible ???
Can you provide any instructions, Please ?

Yes, the new SSD is already set up with Windows and I've installed the programmes I used to have on my old one, I simply just want to copy my personal files over from the NVME enclosure to the new SSD installed in my laptop. I assumed that somehow copying the old nvme disk over to the new one was the only way to do this, but is there a simpler way to just copy over the personal files from the enclosure to my laptop?
