  1. NXDOMAIN when tring to open WiFi login page

Windows 11. Anytime I attempt to open a WiFi login page hotel, airplane, airport, etc, the DNS probe throws non-existant domain. I've tried flushing the DNS cache, using a static DNS and reseting my adapter. Any ideas? It never used to do this and connects fine to my home WiFi and my phone hotspot

  2. Login page won't open on public wifi

Quoting a thread that was locked with no answer in 2018, having the exact same problem now in 2022

“I see that this question was asked in the past, but the answer was not helpful to me and the thread was locked so I am trying again.

I have a Windows 10 laptop. It connects perfectly fine to my home wifi network, so I feel safe assuming that it has no wifi problem. Almost every time I am away from home, however, I try connecting to an "open" wifi network that is supposed to automatically open a sign-in page (to which I have the password). I AM able to connect to the network, but I can't open any web pages because the login page hasn't opened.

Of course I tried googling the problem when I was at home and connected, and tried all the tips I could find. Here's what didn't work so far, so don't bother suggesting it:

    - Turning off and restarting Wifi

    - Turning off and restarting computer

    - Turning off firewall

    - Turning off pop-up blocker (which is silly advice, these things are always page redirects not popups)

    - Clearing cookies etc

    - Making Edge the default app for http/https

    - Making Chrome the default app for http/https

    - Opening a Chrome incognito window and trying to get a website

    - Typing in address bar 1.1.1.1 or the other number combinations suggested on other troubleshooting sites

    - Asking network admin for help (most of the time not available, but the few times I was able to ask someone all they could tell me was that nobody else seemed to have a problem)

What's next?! And why am I having these problems with a fairly new, otherwise functional, fully up-to-date computer? This is VERY frustrating and has resulted in a whole lot of wasted time!”

The answer was to try connecting to msftconnecttest.com, this is another way you try to directly connect to the capture page, it does not load. I’ve spoken to the routers owners and there’s nothing going on on their end, there are people connected to the wifi. At one point I had found a tutorial where they deleted the wifi from list of saved wifi and set up the connection manually, that has worked for a few different public wifi options, but I can’t find that guide and either it doesn’t work or I’m skipping a step. Any help would be greatly appreciated as Google has been the opposite of helpful on this but I don’t know enough about windows or Google to use either effectively. Thank you to anyone who helps!

NXDOMAIN when tring to open WiFi login page

Wifi login page won't pop up after update

I recently updated my laptop and now it won't connect to my school's wifi or any public wifi. Whenever I try to connect, it doesn't lead me to the login page, but a page that says I need to login to access the wifi, which is what I am trying to do. The
wifi login page was about to load, but then it's redirected to the page telling me I have to login to access the wifi. I've tried solving the problem, but none of the solutions I have found worked. Any suggestions as to how to make the login page pop up?
