Was there ever a solution found to "Obsolete email addreses offered in auto-complete in Win 10 mail"? I have the same issue. There was a comment to "click on the X" next to the autofilled info but I don't have that option...this was a problem for me even before windows 10...

The point of my query was to ask why People app and Win 10 Mail are NOT fully synchronised. I now understand that:

• People app and Win 10 Mail do not share a common database and are therefore not fully synchronised.
  
• Win 10 Mail has its own database in the registry, and this database is not user-accessible.
  
• Obsolete and incorrect email addresses will remain in the Win 10 Mail app’s contact list, even when deleted from the People app, and will continue to be offered as valid addresses in the drop down prompt list. This is a ‘feature’ of Win 10 Mail.
• Since there is no way to delete obsolete addresses from Win 10 Mail app, old and incorrect addresses will accumulate over time and render the app unusable.
• Microsoft are aware of this issue and have elected to leave it unresolved. The ‘fix’ is to stop using Win 10 Mail.

I’m hoping that Microsoft will tell me I’ve misunderstood the issue.

This topic has been raised before, but I havent found a suggestion that works for me. I have an HP Pavilion 500 desktop. I recently upgraded to Win 10 from Win 8.1. This was an online upgrade rather than a clean install, but the upgrade was without problem.
As part of the upgrade, Win10 automatically imported contact email addresses from my hotmail account (or by finding them in Win 8.1). I also have an email account with my service provider (BT) that I prefer to use. I dont have any email contact addresses stored
on the BT server.

I could use my browser to go directly to BT mail or hotmail, but I've been using the built in Win 10 mail client. I'm happy with it except for one annoyance...

I keep the email addresses in 'people/contacts' up to date as my contacts tell me they have changed address, but when I start to type in a name into the 'To' field of a new email, the drop down prompt list gives me all of their previous (and now obsolete)
email addresses, as well as the current (valid) address. None of the obsolete addresses are in my people/contacts app. (I understand win 10 mail uses its own list kept in the registry). The list of obsolete addresses is now getting as large as the list of
valid addresses, so I have taken to writing the valid addresses on post-it notes stuck to my screen.

How can I sync my win 10 email client to my people/contacs app so as to stop mail offering me obsolete adresses? My privacy settings are set to allow mail to use the people app and v.versa.

My People app and hotmail (now called Outlook) accounts are already 'synced'. This happened automatically during installation of Win 10.

The problem is:

When I add a new email address to People app, it appears as expected in the auto-complete drop-down menu when filling in the address fields of an email in Win 10 mail. So far, so good. But when I delete an address from the People app, it isn't deleted from
the auto-complete drop down menu. Therefore the auto-complete drop-down menu, over time, fills up with obsolete email addresses, and offers these to me, along with the valid addresses. Therefore I have to rely on my memory to distinguish between valid and
obsolete addresses, hence all the post-it notes stuck around my screen. My contacts change their email address often, so the effect is more noticeable to me.
