  1. Obtaining a new license - some questions

I've giving up trying to reactivate Win10 after a motherboards change - see thread here for details. I'm going to buy a new license. But I've got some questions about that.

If I buy directly from Microsoft do I just get an email with a key and a link to download? And if so, the new key work with my existing, running Windows won't it? There's no reason to reinstall Windows, is there? (That sounds like a very boneheaded question to me. I want it to be a very boneheaded question. But I think I should ask it anyway.)

If I were to buy Windows from Amazon instead of Microsoft would I be getting a physical package and have to wait for it to be delivered before getting that key?

In preparation for my motherboard replacement I switched my Windows account from local to a Microsoft account in hope of using the Activation Troubleshooter to reactivate Windows. I have no other use for using the Microsoft account on Windows (that I know of). Is there any reason I should not switch back to local?

    :)

Obtaining a new license - some questions

    The good news is :
    Application license successfully installed.
    Package: Microsoft.Windows.48.X19-98841_8wekyb3d8bbwe
    User Id (if available): NULL
    License Id: e9f3e7e0-f34d-603a-41ae-d2d3c34f5a20
    Associate Id: e9f3e7e0-f34d-603a-41ae-d2d3c34f5a20
Digital License acquired: Thursday, May 31, 2018

    The bad news however:
    ServerProps: 0xc004f200

Meaning the server is not picking up the DL.

The Product ID is generated from the Product Key and are interlinked - i.e. each combo is unique apart from the last 5 chararacters which may vary with Retail keys - it will always show -AAOEM for OEM keys however. One can't use the PID directly.

Anyway... nothing much we can do if the server rejects the DL, we have no control over that.

It's frustrating not being able to see what's on the server as compared with the local installation - ie. where the server sees a mismatch. I'll PM you one of my Win 7 Pro retail keys I use for testing and see if that kick starts the DL. (Win 7 keys are not retained so it should not be a problem - we just need to get past the generic key which causes the "Acquisition of End User License failed. 0xC004C003" = blocked in your report. I assume there is a conflict trying to activate with it as opposed to using it to retrieve the DL)
