Occasional instability over the last month

    Hi,

I've generally had good luck with the current installation of Windows on my desktop, but lately, I've encountered a lot of instability on it. Problems seem to occur most often during booting, but can happen hours into use, too.

There doesn't seem to be a consistent error code that I can point to.

I did install a secondary NVMe drive recently, but I had no issues during its first few weeks--not sure if that's relevant.

    Things I've tried without success:
    - scandsk and chkdsk
    - DISM
    - Windows Memory Diagnostic
    - memtest86+

I did see a couple of red flags with WMD and memtest a couple of weeks ago, but neither program--even overnight memtest sessions--has turned anything up during regular checks over the last week.

I'm currently operating under the theory that I somehow damaged the RAM or motherboard while installing the NVMe drive, but in so minor a way that I can't reliably detect that damage with diagnostic tools. I've never had bad RAM that was this sneaky, though. :

Any ideas? I'm not that experienced with Windows, so I'm not sure if there are software problems that I might investigate.

  2. PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

Occasionally "Microsoft print to pdf" creates empty files

Have already done all of the steps suggested in that link.
The problem only happens occasionally; maybe two or three times a day.
Happening on several PC's, the only way to catch it before it goes to customers is the size of the file created.
If it is 0 or 1kb, it's a blank document.
Microsoft Print to pdf was working fine until about two weeks ago.
    Thank You

Occasional BSOD: Event errors on many harddisk

I don't understand why people are having problems copying the data for Tuneup.bat. The directions are as follows:

    Command Prompt or Powershell Window - follow Part Two-OneA steps 1A, 2A, 3A and 4 through 7.

Occasional instability over the last month [IMG]

    That takes you here:

Occasional instability over the last month [IMG]

Occasional instability over the last month [IMG]

Then follow steps 4 through 7.

I don't know how to make it any more explicit than that. Suggestions welcome.
