Windows 10: Occasionally I cannot click on anything on my desktop (I think it's since last big Windows...

Every now and again I cannot click on anything on my desktop. I can click on the task bar but nothing else. It usually happens a couple of minutes after starting up and then again randomly. The only way to fix it is to press CTRL-ALT-DEL, after which, the mouse becomes responsive to that clickable list of options.

Probably not uncoincidental, but it seems to have been happening since the Windows update a month or so back.

I'm not tech minded and would greatly appreciate any help or advice with this.
