  1. October 2020 Update just installed today and lost my SPDIF audio output

Spent an hour or so after getting this update installed took multiple reboots... when i noticed my audio output is not working from my Focusrite 6i6 SPDIF output or headphone jack 1/4". It was working just fine prior to this update. A previous update ALSO hosed this audio until i got it working again. Trying my tricks of the trade reload driver, uninstall, reboot, install driver Realtek for chip on mobo and it still is not working. I unplugged/replugged the SPDIF cable into it and still no output. Audio via USB headset works fine. I can see output when running something audio-wise in the sound device panel.

This is ridiculous. I know it a is not hardware and b not a driver issue. This is something else with this patch that screwed up audio and i'm not the only one seeing audio issues. I may have to uninstall this or do a restore of a full image I just happened to do this morning. MS needs to do a lot more/better testing with these patch releases, especially the bigger ones and I am an SQA engineer by trade/background.....

PS ive looked at multiple threads on audio issues and nothing the MVP's have posted has resolved this problem. It is not hardware either.

    :)

  3. windows 1803 has no 5.1 spdif audio available

the same board 5.1 spdif audio works fine on windows 7.

So I am upgrading to ver 1903, will this give me 5.1 spdif audio sound
I only have stereo coming through on spdif.
I was reading up and people were complaining they had lots of sound issues with spdif in the earlier versions of 10.

on ver 1803, going to spdif properties all it lists is a selection of 2 channel audio outputs. That is where the 5.1 output should show and it is not showing.

Does this mean it will never work in windows 10 as Microsoft made it?
    claims its using hdaudio.sys

If it does not work in win10, how can I get working 5.1 thru spdif. Can it come through the nvidia card itself?

Aspen 7548 motherboard uses Realtek alc888s will this driver work?

  4. October 2020 Update just installed today and lost my SPDIF audio output

No Audio Output Device is Installed

    Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    2. Select "playback devices".

    3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

    5. Save the changes.

    Let us know the result.
