The October Xbox update rolls out this week, bringing a set of exciting changes to Xbox One consoles now, as well as Xbox Series X|S at launch on November 10. Fans will immediately notice a brand-new look and feel, making their consoles feel fresh and more approachable. Everyone can now customize their profiles with a variety of themes from Xbox and Xbox Game Studios. First time gamers will have an easier time getting started, thanks to some thoughtful improvements around Xbox Home and the Guide. And, weâve added support for four new languages across the Xbox experience. Keep reading for the full details!

Fresh Look and Feel

We debuted the new Xbox UX look and feel back in August, and itâs been a big hit with our Xbox Insiders. Now, all Xbox products across your devices â console, mobile and PC â share the same visual style and design, making them feel more familiar and easier to use.

From Home to Guide, My Games & Apps, and even Settings, all parts of the UX have been improved. The new design includes changes to our tile shape, fonts, and focus indicator across the experience. The overall layout of most of the pages will not be drastically different, ensuring the new UI remains familiar and easy to navigate.

New Profile Themes

As a top destination on the Xbox, Customer Profiles are an important part of our community experience. We believe our fans should be able to express themselves and have added profile themes as another way to do that. Customer Profile themes have been quite popular with our Xbox Insiders, and weâre excited to make them available to everyone as part of the October release.

You will be able to select from several different Themes for your profile, including some game Themes from Xbox Game Studios â and more will be added over time! Profile Themes are also available in the Xbox App on PC and through Game Bar.

And today weâve added 3 new themes to celebrate the upcoming launch of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S!

Easier to Get Started

As we look ahead to the next generation with Xbox Series X|S, weâre excited to welcome new fans to the Xbox family. With this update, weâve made some âquality of lifeâ improvements to ensure fans new to Xbox can get started as easy as possible.

These improvements begin with a new way to get signed in. Signing in with an Xbox Account makes sure your console is personalized to you, giving you access to your games, friends, customizations and more! With the October update, if Xbox fans donât have auto sign-in or controller sign-in enabled, they will be prompted to choose an account to use when turning on their Xbox.

Fans new to Xbox will also be greeted by a refined Home experience. The most recently used list will be prepopulated with frequently used apps like Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft Store and Settings to help get you started. Quick Tips has been refreshed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and makes it easy to find answers to commonly asked questions.

Combined with similar improvements we made to the Guide in the August update, new Xbox fans should become seasoned players in no time!

Support for Four New Languages

The October update also includes support for four new languages: Hungarian, Greek, Slovak, and Czech. Customers can choose one of the new languages by navigating to Settings > System > Location > Language and picking it from the list. A special thanks to our Xbox Insiders in those regions that provided invaluable feedback on the translations!

Xbox Ambassadors profile Specializations coming soon Xbox

Hey everybody! Soon we’ll be adding a new feature to your Xbox Ambassadors profile–Specializations. Specializations give Ambassadors the opportunity to share their individual preferences around game genre, type, platform, social channels, focus areas, and skills. By sharing this information on your profile, you can better connect with like-minded Ambassadors and we can better tailor program activities and communications for you.

By filling out the Specializations section of your profile, you’re telling us and other Ambassadors what YOU prefer to do and see in the grand world of gaming. This is the first step in a larger objective for the program to create a more personalized Ambassador experience. Once we know what Ambassadors are most interested in, we can use those insights to solidify partnerships with Xbox teams and studios that give our community more opportunities that are meaningful to them.

You can expect to see Specializations in your profile in the near future. As soon as they are live, we’ll be sure to notify our Ambassadors!

Step-by-step: how to navigate and use Specializations

Navigate to your Xbox Ambassadors Profile at https://ambassadors.microsoft.com/xb...file/overview/

Select “Specializations” from the ribbon at top of Profile

Hit the “Edit” button on right-hand side of screen to get started!

Select as many or as few Specializations as you’d like

When you’re finished for now, hit the “Save Changes” button and you’re all set!

Note: once you’ve saved your changes, your Specializations will be visible to anyone looking at your Profile. To check out another Ambassador’s Specializations, search their Gamertag on the Leaderboard and click on the Gamertag. You can then click “specializations” to see theirs, and vice versa!

On Mobile?

The steps to set your Specializations are the same, but the UI is different.

Head to your Profile at (https://ambassadors.microsoft.com/xb...file/overview/)

Hit the drop-down menu in the center of your screen (defaults to “Overview” and select “Specializations”

Hit the “Edit” button and choose whichever Specializations you’d like!

Xbox 360 Live Update

A new update for the Xbox 360 has been released over Xbox Live. The update, available upon signing on to the Xbox Live service with a 360, offers a few minor bug fixes, as well as a seal over a minor security hole that would-be system hackers had been experimenting with. Here's the update list:

Improvements to the Xbox Guide.

Option to retain your saved games when you delete a profile.

Increased accuracy of "last time played."

Network configuration improvements for Xbox Live® members in the Netherlands.

More detailed messaging for unreadable disk or region errors.
