Windows 10: Odd black bar on start menu

Pretty much as the image shows. It tends to go away after a few open/close actions but what really has me puzzled is that this behaviour happened on my previous computer, but I just bought a new computer. Until I signed in with my Microsoft account it worked as normal. After signing in, the black bar glitch has returned.It's not a massive annoyance but I'm curious how it has followed me from one machine to another. I did have Sync Settings on, so I assume that's how it got to the new machine, but I have no idea what that setting might be. Any help would be appreciated.

Start Bar not working after update install in Windows 10


Hi, tried as you suggest. It starts and says Checking application registration... and the green progress bar just goes on and on (let it run for over two hours) and never gets to the next step. Any other suggestions?

 

Odd thing on windows start menu

I am Jaspreet Singh.

You may have suggestions active for start menu.

Turn them off with these steps :

1. Click the Start button.

2. Click the Settings icon.

3. Type "Start" in and select Start Settings.

4. Turn off "Occasionally show suggestions in Start."

That should stop these from popping up again. This is not a virus or malware.
