  1. Odd CD-ROM detection error

Trying to troubleshoot an odd CD-ROM detection error. I have an ASUS DRW-24B1ST SATA drive. My bios picks up the drive, it shows up in Device Manager without an exclamation point icon and from Disk Management, it has an assigned drive E:

The drive does not appear in File Explorer when there's no media inserted.

If I insert a music CD into the drive, it doesn't auto launch or auto play. The drive does not show up in File Explorer. Applications like iTunes do not detect an inserted CD.

However, if I launch Disk Management after inserting the CD, the drive will suddenly appear in File Explorer and iTunes will suddenly detect the CD and operate as expected.

What could be causing this error?

    :)
