Odd surges in GPU/Power usage when using machine for work. Causes stuttering.

This problem has been happening for some time now, but I've finally had enough.

I could go the "easy" option of a reformat, but I am going to try and ask if there is another way.

I really notice this problem whilst I have Spotify playing. Songs stutter.

    This usually happens when:

I'm scrolling in large Word documents or spreadsheets. Browsing a SharePoint site I use for work, flicking between tabs etc.

As you can see, scrolling in Word causes this to happen. Maybe this is normal, but there is occasional stuttering of music and even the Word app itself will stutter, if that's the right word. Lag perhaps.

I can play the latest games no issue what so ever. Although the machine now takes noticeably longer to boot than it did when I first installed Windows 10, but to be fair, that was way back in August 2020.

Perhaps a reformat is due, but I was just wondering if there something I've missed.

All drivers up to date, BIOS etc.

Power surge now Ethernet connection says no IP address

    Hello,

As the power surge is a dangerous happening that will surely affect your device as well as the Ethernet, here are the steps we suggest that you do in order to be connected to the internet again:

    • Run the Network troubleshooter followed by networking commands.
    • Update the network adapter driver.
    • If that doesn't work, roll back the network adapter driver.
    • Temporarily turn off firewalls.
    • Temporarily turn off any antivirus or malware-prevention software.
    • Uninstall the network adapter driver and restart.
    • Use network reset to reinstall network devices. Note that this step is the last option if the first six steps doesn't really work.

For instructions regarding the above steps, you may refer to this link.

Let us know how it goes.

Odd surges in GPU/Power usage when using machine for work. Causes stuttering.

    Power Surge

I am experiencing a power surge on my computer several times each day. I receive a message that says "USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of it hub port, disconnect devise and press reset". This occurs when the laptop is docked.
After this occurs my keyboard no longer works. I must shut down and restart before my computer will work again. Any idea what may be causing this or how to resolve?
