  2. Windows 10 Pro Same updates, Install Multiple times!

    I have a Windows 10 Pro workstation which has Office 365 Pro Plus 2016 installed. The system Info is below.

    Windows 10 Pro Info:

    Version = 1703

    Build = 15063.674

    Subscription Product

    Office 365 ProPlus 2016

    Version = 1705

    Build = 8201.2193 Click-To-Run

    Deferred Channel

    The question I have is why does the following two updates keep reinstalling successfully and how do I correct this?

    Security Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2553338) 64-Bit Edition

    Update for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB3114750) 64-Bit Edition

  3. Cortana & Office 365 Integration

    We are trying to integrate Cortana with our Office 365 subscription, but it never works. Here are the steps we have done:

    • Turned on Cortona in the Office 365 Admin portal
    • We are using Windows 10 1703 – connected Office 365 service to Cortana
    Did the same on windows 10 mobile with no luck, Cortana says its connected to Office 365, but sees no data and we are getting zero errors

    We went rough office 365 support first and tried all fo their suggestions, they kicked us over to Windows support which is currently closed.

    We are on v1703 with all updates in place, it does not work on Windows 10 desktop or mobile

    any ideas? I can give you all steps 365 support had us run through if that will be helpful

    Thank you

    Doug

    Can you get the ISO for office 2016 like you can with windows 10? If so, is there a link?

    Well... I will be honest with you: Office 2016 (versions and builds) genuinely confuse me! *Sad

    Here is a screenshot from my Outlook 2016, taken seconds ago. I have uninstalled and then re-installed my Office suite today, due to an error I kept getting, Outlook was asking for my credentials almost each time I run it!

    Anyway... The screenshot:

    Can someone, please, answer me for following?

    - Why am I not seeing anywhere "Product Activated" when my product is indeed Activated?!
    - Why am I not seeing the version and the build number, like in Brink's screenshot, for example?
    - Will I get this update?

    My Office is the standalone (desktop) version of Office. I do not have a 365 subscription and I have never-ever logged in with my MS account.

    Thank you.

    EDIT: thanks A LOT, Brink, for removing my e-mail address, Jesus! I do not know how I have missed that... *Sad

    I've upgraded to this version [7967.2139] and saw this new feature documented:

    Saving a document as a PDF saves the document as a version 1.7 PDF.

    I create PDFs all the time and decided to test this feature. When I made a PDF the version is still showing version 1.5 in my PDF reader.

    Does anybody else suffer from this problem?

    • Try signing-in to Office using 'Sign In' from your screenshot to show more information and/or receive updates.

    • Not all SKUs of Microsoft Office show the 'Product Activated' notice. You only need to worry if you get the following warning:

    There's probably an update policy regarding perpetual versions of Office but the rule of thumb is that you're not entitled to any upgrades. An upgrade is a major jump, an update is an incremental jump.

    You'll continue to get updates (security and basic bug-fixes) but you'll be left on your own when it comes to upgrades (i.e. one version to the next).

    I'd have thought that you'd get all updates for Office 2016 but that these will cease (except security updates) once its successor (e.g. Office 2017/2018/2019) is released.

    Here are two resources which may help you:

    It's one of the reasons I never recommend standalone licenses to people. It's cheaper to buy a subscription to Office and get all of the updates and functionality associated with Office 365.

  12. Mine updated to 1703 7967-2139 just fine. I had tried the fast insider ring office but it was too buggy for my work.

    I am posting again here "Just for the record" = someone, somewhere, might get helped.

    Here is a screenshot from Word 2016. Office Professional Plus, 32 bit.

    I use this installation on my Insider build, Win 10 Pro.
    As can be seen, I am singed in with my MS account. Still it says I am up to date, still no "Product Activated", still I am not even sure in which build or version I am found, exactly.

    As I said, I'm not expecting an explanation/solution, [I'm] just leaving this here for the next baffled fellow to not feel lonely.

    Thanks *Smile
