Windows 10: Office 2016 Preview and Office 2010 concurrently.

I think this comment is allowed - there is an NDA but I think this is OK. The latest update installs OFFICE 2016 just fine and works OK. Office 2010 is left untouched so you can run BOTH concurrently.

OUTLOOK 2016 though uses the same data file as Outlook 2010 so SEND from outlook 2010 hoses up with "Cant access Outlook data file".

However once you've sent the email with Outlook 2016 you can see it in the SENT folder of both Outlook 2010 and 2016 so using Outlook 2016 during the preview won't cause carnage to your existing office outlook.

So far very impressed -- FORGET OFFICE 2013 completely. 2016 is STREETS better and you can get rid of that hideous over white theme too. NDA so can't post image.

Note I'm using x-64 for both Office 2010 and 2016.

If you want to try the Links were open this morning -- this could have been an error because they might close again soon.


So far so good -- note some people get activation message unless they have Office 365 subscription --I don't have and didn't seem to get that message.

Am using Windows 10 x-64 Enterprise as the OS I'm testing this on --running on a REAL machine, build 9926.

Why did you say "Yes, you can" and in the list of supported versions you left out that office Starter isn't supported

The Learn More link at the bottom of your post says you cant.

The following versions of Microsoft Office with the latest Service Packs have been confirmed to be compatible with Windows 10:

• Office 2016 Preview
• Office 2013/Office 365
• Office 2010 (exception Office Starter 2010)
• Office 2007

 

2010 Update problems with Office Starter.

It is not compatible and it is one of the applications you are required to remove before upgrading:

Hi there

I got an install file called OfficePreview.exe which carried out the config and install. Although it says Office365 it's actually Office 2016 preview.

I can show pics but I did agree to the NDA so I'll leave that for now. Suffice to say it DOES work and is far better than Office 2013 and I'll certainly upgrade my Office 2010 at the appropriate time.

Hi there

Download and extract the ZIP file -- This will install Office 2016 even though it's called January update. If you have Office 2010 it won't damage that (both work concurrently) - but it uses the SAME OUTLOOK data files as Office 2010 - so you won't lose any email. contacts etc etc.

They have changed the procedure though -- I think to activate you have to have an Office 365 subscription - I managed a direct leaked link which didn't need the Office 365 subscription for activation. I don't have office 365 either.

The funny thing is that the activation thinks its Office 2013 -- which I don't have (HATED IT) but it most DEFINITELY is OFFICE 2016 !!!! -- probably why Ms changed it or suppressed the leak. !!!

You can tell it's not Office 2013 from the Office 2016 version number and the theme colours - anything but that HIDEOUS bright white of Office 2013 !!!!!!!.

Well guys, did that vbut i only can download 8.63 MB, above that the EULA says Office 2013 which i use right now

so i leave it as is.

It's still very much a service pack to Office 2013.. albeit with the 16.xxx build number...

 

Most probably. I've just downloaded the Preview and tried to add one of my 2013 activation keys but it wouldn't accept it. Never mind, I still have 2010 on W7 and 2013 to use on either 81./10 although I really do prefer the dark grey colour scheme of 2016 to 2013.
