Windows 10: Office 365 - 79,99$ per for 5 users?

Hi there,

My office 365 personal is expiring soon. I compared prices and notice that it cost 59.99$ for one person, or 79.99% for 5 users (15$ per person).

Is there any discount for one person? It just looks too expensive when I compare to 5 persons *Confused

Basic question

There is no such thing as Windows 365.

Microsoft develops two popular software platforms:

Windows 10 - operating system, which manages the resources of the computer such as your hardware, applications and your interaction with it. It is not a subscription, but it is delivered as a service where updates and feature improvements are released for
free regularly.

Office 365 - productivity suite, which consist of applications for word processing, spreadsheet, personal information manager, presentation graphics, desktop publishing and database management.

Office 365 is available as a subscription in various editions to meet the needs of the user. Compared to Office 2016 (which is equivalent in features and functions to Office 365), Office 365 is more affordable than the perpetual Office 2016 license.

An Office 365 license starts at $100 per year, versus spending $500 for a boxed Office 2016 license.

Office 365 licenses are updated regularly and you are entitled to new revisions as they are released. Office 2016 remains the same throughout its lifecycle. If you paid $100 per year for 5 years, that would entitle you to new features and versions every
year.

If you buy one copy of Office and don't need new features and functionality, then the standard perpetual license is recommended.

The Office 365 is available on a specific time fee. I could not locate it in the MS Store.

Microsoft charges are:

- 99.00 Euro per year or 10.00 Euro per month for home use (up to 5 PCs or any other devices)

or

- 69.00 Euro per year or 7.00 Euro per month for personal use (1 PC or 1 different device).

Not that I can see & yes it is expensive for 1 person compared to a 5 user license, I'd buy Office if it was £20 cheaper for 1 user.

 

That is annual lease cost.

 

It is really the converse ie 5 user licence is a bargain especially if you factor in each user gets 1TB onedrive storage space.


Be glad you are being charged in $ not £ - we pay much more in UK - $60 would be a greate price for us.

 

Where are you getting Office 365 Home for $79.99 for a year. The price is $9.99 per month, or $99.99 per year. The personal edition is $6.99 a month or $69.99 per year.

 

It was $79.99, now it shows again $99 :/ But still, 20$ per user is much cheaper then 69$

 

It is, but like in my case, I have a copy on my sons desktop, my desktop and my mac laptop. But I cannot use 3 of them at once. My son isn't using it.

 

How do you mean "cannot use 3 of them at once"? What happens when you do?

If you are using office that allows 5 users, and if you share office with them over their own mail addresses then it should not have any problem.
If all of them are registered office with same mail address then it could have problem

Check on every computer whether they are registered with same mail address or different.

Also you can use microsoft online support and they can help you to solve your problem

 

I just mean I am one person. I am only using office on any one computer at a time. So, its mathematically $20 per user if you divide $100 by 5 installs.

Yes, I can launch and use them all simultaneously if I wanted to.

 

Ah I understand now. Then it is more like 5 devices then 5 users like you said, I forgot how it works.

 

Well, it can be 5 users too. Generally speaking, I think people who buy Office 365 home are probably using a couple of installs, but likely aren't sharing with other people. Granted, they could share and split the cost. Microsoft even has a paper on how to do just that. But I think most people paying the $99 are like me where they have installed it on multiple devices of their own. So, while cost is $100/5 = $20....it's not like I got it for $20 and sold off my other 4 installs for $80..

If I were Microsoft, I would probably do $39.99 and $99.99.

 

If you're a college student you can get a 4 year subscription of Office 365 University for $79 bucks. You'll need to verify your student status. It's good for two PC's and a tablet/smartphone. I just redid my subscription which doesn't expire till 2021.

You can also get Office 365 for free as a student/teacher, again, with verified credentials, but that bundle doesn't come all the office apps like Outlook, Publisher and Access.

Anyway just FYI.

 

Possible, but I need then to use my faculty mail? It's good for office, but I would like to keep onedrive on my private mail, not faculty.
