Windows 10: Office 365 Applications unable to open

"This service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."


This is the error message I get when trying to open any office 365 applications.

I'm not really sure when this actually happened, because I have not opened any of them in quite a while.


The last change I remember doing is disabling Microsoft store through the registry and the services.msc editor because it was using way too much CPU, and I couldn't fix it because Microsoft store wouldn't open.


I have done a quick fix and an online fix.

I have reinstalled all office 365 applications

and have done a sfc /scannow, with DISM

He already did that. The list of what the OP tried is long and it includes pretty much everything I'm aware of *Sad

How about temporary disable AV and any antiransomware product, and run Office repair again?

Edit: just now have i finished reading the part of the post describing how you deleted Windows.old.
This could be related. Normally, Windows doesn't need that old installation, but in some cases, some files could be needed..


Try with Repair install of the Windows.

Hi Manikanta, that looks like your Office 365 installation is somehow corrupt, follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features

Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications

At the top, click 'Change'

On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the Online Repair, it is a comprehensive fix

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .

Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:
