Windows 10: Office Apps not working

i can open office 635, i can even click on word and it will open word within the app. however i cannot use word by itself without going through the app. when i click on word, or try to open a document via word it says "install failed please contact software vendor. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling, ive tried running the repair tool. nothing is working and i NEED this for college. any and all suggestions are appreciated

Only supported on Win10. Sorry, 8.1 users, only 4 years old, gotta go.

Last year at Ignite, we announced Office 2019 – the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Today we’re pleased to share the following updates:

• Office 2019 will ship in H2 of 2018. Previews of the new apps and servers will start shipping in the second quarter of 2018.
• Office 2019 apps will be supported on:
  • Any supported Windows 10 SAC release
  • Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018
  • The next LTSC release of Windows Server
• The Office 2019 client apps will be released with Click-to-Run installation technology only. We will not provide MSI as a deployment methodology for Office 2019 clients. We will continue to provide MSI for Office Server products.

 

Windows 10 version of Office has disappeared

I suggest you to go to follow the below steps to search the office apps on your computer and check if it helps.

• Press “Windows+X”, go to “Control panel”.
• Click on “Programs and features”.
• Check whether you can find office app located in programs list or not.

all office apps startup only after re-start windows

If your computer has an SSD, then this should solve your issue and you won't see any noticeable bootup speed changes:

Disable Fast Startup (step by step):

1. Open Control Panel
2. Navigate to Hardware and Sound --> Power Options
3. Then click on "Choose what the power buttons do"
4. Press "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
5. Under Shutdown settings untick the box beside "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"
6. Save changes and reboot once.

Once logged in and Windows has booted up properly and settled, shut down your computer. After that boot your computer again and test your Office apps. They should work now.
