Windows 10: Offline Dot Net 3.5 Install

I have software that requires Dot Net 3.5, I tried downloading the offline installer and it still tries to contact Microsoft Update. The computer is firewalled from the internet and cannot connect to Microsoft Update. Is there a way to download a Windows 10 iso or wim file? Is there a fix for the offline dot Net 3.5 installer?

OK, the Windows 10 Feature installation method should have been straightforward, but since that errored out as well, something else seems to be going on with your Windows, so wait for somebody with more experience to suggest a way out.

In the mean time, if you haven't already, you could give muchomurka's suggestion a go as well with the elevated prompt and an install media to see if it works. The following link shows the detailed steps involved.

You might want to try copying everything off the thumb drive to a local folder on the hard disk instead of running setup from the thumb drive itself.

 

Installing .NET 3.5 offline

I searched on the web and I am trying to follow guides on how to install .NET 3.5 on an offline machine. Steps that I followed:

1. Download official Windows 10 .iso
   
2. Mount it on D: drive
   File explorer which shows mounted Windows 10
   
3. Run dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
   
4. What I get back:
   

Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature.

I cannot solve this error, can someone help me out? I thought that feature naming might be bad, I opened mounted Windows .iso and navigated to D:\sources\sxs where I was able to find 4 files:
