OK fixed my VM issues - now anyway to do an UPDATE

    Hi there

Finally fixed my VMWARE issues -- seems the original ISO I downloaded wasn't good.

Now is there any way to do an UPDATE (and from what Windows release). I've tried an "Update" from Windows 8.1 enterprise ==>Windows 10 but it deletes all your apps and only saves your "personal files".

I've seen a few posts here on how people have "updated" their machines and are running Office etc. Did they do an "Update" or did they have to re-install their apps.

If they managed a proper Update can they please explain how they did it.

Appreciate in advance as I don't want to install zillions of apps each time I'm testing.

    Cheers

  2. Orange E61i no longer on Orange

My company issued E61i was an Orange phone - we have now moved to T-Mobile.

Orange issued phone derestriction codes, and phone works on T-Mobile SIM.

    I have a couple of issues ...

I do NOT have T-Mobile voicemail, and also did NOT have Orange voicemail enabled.

Currently I have an icon on the phone 'desktop' showing there is a VM message.

If I press and hold '1' it dials Orange VM ... but I cannot access this as I no longer have an Orange Service, and never had VM set up anyway.

I have spoken to T-Mobile, they say contact Orange as phone is diallling Orange cellular mail box. I did they confirm VM is not active and can offer no further help.

How do I get rid of that icon ?

How can I change the 'cellular VM box' it dials by default.

can I also get rid of other Orange customisation .. i.e on 'desk top' it has menus for Orange World, Orange internet etc.

Is there a way to wipe these ?

  3. Visual Studio 2015 issue deploying to Windows Phone since Windows 10 1511 update ..

    H all,

I use Visual Studio 2015 Community to build app(s) for Windows Phone 8.1 and shortly UWP but sometime in the last month or so I've had a problem deploying to my device (Nokia) connected by USB to my Windows 10 VM running on Mac. Up until recently there wasn't
an issue, I'd connect the phone to the Mac and VMWare Fusion would prompt to connect with VM which it did and then using Visual Studio all connect and I could deploy and debug fine on the device.

But I've recently been trying it and now it's not happening and I think it's since the VM was updated with Windows 10 1511 update. What happens now is that I can connect the phone fine and Windows itself seems to recognise it as it appears in File Explorer
and I can see the folders etc., but .. when I run Visual Studio and deploy I see it "connecting to device ..." but it never does .. although if I physically disconnect while it says that it knows that.

I thought at first it was some corruption in Windows in the VM or perhaps an issue with Fusion but since then I've tried at least all of the following .. took the VM and moved it to an Windows PC and ran it under WorkStation and same issues .. downloaded
the Microsoft Community VM and got the same problem with that .. tried reinstalling Windows 10 on the VM same result .. the only thing that works is if I run it under Windows itself (not in VM) and then all ok (so it's not cable or phone) .. which points to
interaction with Visual Studio 2015 when under a VM and USB connection ..

.. as I say though, this all worked fine up until recently and the only thing (that I can think of) that's changed is the Windows 1511 update in the meantime.

Has anybody come across this issue and/or have a clue as to solution?

    Thanks,

    Derek

    This is not a VM.

No Upgrade problems, Windows 8.1 Enterprise to Windows 10 Enterprise.

    Hi there

    Thanks for the reply.

I found out belatedly that the original version I downloaded was NON enterprise ENG US version and I'm running W8.1 ENTERPRISE UK eng version. (Both 64 bit).

Re-downloaded from TechNet the ENTERPRISE UK Eng version -- seems to be working so far. Upgrade needs to be ENTERPRISE==>ENTERPRISE or Non Enterprise ==> non enterprise.

The download links weren't clear (probably my fault also for not reading CAREFULLY before downloading !!!!).

    Cheers
