Windows 10: Old Computer Ram Problem

I don't know if this is the place to ask butFor some context: I bought an old Windows laptop that had a ram stick in it already which was a DDR2 2GB possibly DIMM ram stick that I wanted to upgrade. So I bought an A-Tech 4GB DDR2 800 PC2-6400 SO-DIMM ram stick for the computer. So I put it in the laptop, and it turns on but it doesn't boot into Windows 7. But when I put the original stick of ram in the laptop it turns on just fine. I then saw that the computer only takes DIMM DDR2 ram, so I saw that DIMM ram is different from SO-DIMM so I looked for a DIMM stick but all of them were twice

To better assist you, please answer the questions below.

• What is the full specifications of your computer?
• Which type of RAM are you trying to install?
• Have you checked if the total RAM is detected in the BIOS?
• Have you tried installing just the 8 Gb RAM and see if the system detects it?
  

We suggest that you contact the computer manufacturer for information on how to enter the BIOS and how to set the default settings. Also, you can ask them if there is an available update for the BIOS.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin
