I had a licensed win 10 pro on my old laptop which broke.


Now I bought a new surface and would like to upgrade the Win 10 home edition to the Win 10 Pro that I used to have.


How can I do that?

Upgrading Win 10 Home to Pro

I am attempting to upgrade my new PC from Win 10 Home to Pro using a Win 8 Pro key. My old Win 10 laptop screen broke which I had used the Win 8 Pro key to upgrade in the past. I bought a new PC and am trying to upgrade from 10 Home to Pro with the same
8 Pro key.

I was able to reset my old laptop to factory settings so it is no longer running Win 10 Pro but now Win 10 Home.

I am receiving the following error after I enter the Win 8 Pro activation key: "Unable to upgrade your edition Something interrupted our troubleshooting. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, wait a few minutes, and try again. (0x80070057)"

Win 10 Pro or Win 10 home

Recently purchased an HP desktop (tower) with Win 10 Pro installed. This is to replace my 5yr old emachines w/Win 7. I now wish to upgrade my laptop. Do I need to install Win 10 Pro on the laptop, or will Win 10 Home do just as well? Both machines are
for my personal use. Desktop stays at home, the laptop travels.

 

Upgrade a Win 10 home OEM to Win 10 Pro OEM with Win 10 Pro OEM Key?

I recently purchased a laptop that has an OEM version of Win 10 Home on it.

I verified this by using : slmgr -dli.

Previously I had purchased an OEM Win 10 Pro Key.

Can I use this OEM Win 10 Pro Key to upgrade the OEM Win 10 Home to the OEM Win 10 Pro.

If so what are the steps to accomplish this?

In addition, I assume that is this is possible, that the current product key will be updated to the new product key?

The reason I am asking this is that it's my understanding that these product keys are tied to the bios on a name brand laptop.
