Windows 10: Old laptop won't boot 64 bit windows

I have 2 windows versions of the hdd and the laptop tries to boot the 64 one and won't change to the other version when I press the use other operation system button

Can`t Upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 10

I tried upgrading my notebook/tablet pc from 32-bit to 64-bit windows 10. But it won`t boot from my usb. I checked if its compatible and followed the steps, but I didn`t get the windows "install now" option.

 

Laptop won't boot into 64-bit windows.

Ok. So I have a new laptop. I tried to clean install windows 10 64-bit using a bootable flash drive. It won't boot so I tried to install a 32-bit windows 10. It worked but when I open system properties it said that the installed version is Windows 10 32-bit
on a 64-bit based processor. Also, I have noticed that other users with the same model as my laptop can run 64-bit windows.

So I tried to use an installation disc with a 32-bit and 64 bit version of windows 8.1 hoping that when I install the 64-bit windows 8.1 I can upgrade to 32-bit Windows 10. The installation went fine. Installed the 64-bit windows 8.1 but after restarting
the laptop, it won't boot to the installed OS. I don't know why my laptop only reads 32-bit based Windows while others with the same model as mine can boot into 64-bit windows. And the system properties clearly states that I have a 64-bit based processor.

 

64 bit Windows 10 on old laptop

Hi there,

My dad has 2 old Dell Latitude E5500 laptops sitting around. Hes been using one of them for years and the other one has barely been used and wants to switch over to that one because the other one is starting to fail.

So I'm dialing in the barely used one but I'm not sure as to what OS I should install. It was running 32 bit windows 7 professional before (clean install) and now I recently installed 64 bit Windows 10. It ran fine without any problems on Win7 but it's very
sluggish on 64bit windows 10. As soon as I try to run anything the disk usage shoots up to 100% and the laptop halts to a crawl.

The specs on the laptop are:

• Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs (up to 2.66GHz)
• RAM: 2GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM (upgradeable)
• Storage: 7200RPM 160GB,

I have a 250Gb 5400RPM HDD collecting dust somewhere but storage isn't really an issue for my dad (laptop is only going to be used for browsing/youtube/office) so I feel this'll be a downgrade speed wise.

As both laptops are identical I plan to add the RAM from the old/used laptop into this one (to get 4Gb), but right now this isn't an option yet as that laptop is used untill I get this one dialed in.

So my question,

If I upgrade the ram to 4Gb DDR2, what do you think would be the best OS to run on this laptop speed wise?

-32 bit Windows 10

-64 bit Windows 10
