Old to new PC, can‘t activate Win11 Pro on new PC slmgr /upk

Hello,i switched my mainboard and later noticed that i didn‘t look if i should deactivate Windows on my old system. Because i wanted to do a fresh Win11 Pro install. So i was booting into Win from my old NVMe drives on the new mainboard and used the command slmgr /upk to deinstall license in my old Windows install. Now i installed Win11 Pro new media creation tool, while deleting the old Windows partitions, and Windows is saying that i can‘t activate Win on this system and doesn‘t give me other options other than to login with MS account and contact an agent. So i should have deinstall the li

Unable to reactivate windows on a new PC

I had earlier asked a question here on SU.SE. It was suggested to me that I should firstly deactivate windows on older PC and then try to activate windows on the new PC. I have deactivated windows on the older PC by slmgr /upk, but I am unable to activate windows on the new PC.

I have followed Activation> Troubleshoot> I changed hardware on this device recently> Unable to Activate Windows > See other devices linked to your Microsoft account, I get the following message (attached as image). In the attached image my windows is listed, but mentions as Windows isn't Activated and I do not get the option to select the windows.

Have I followed a wrong procedure? What should I do next?

PS: I have a Retail license of Windows

  3. Need help transferring a Windows 10 Pro digital license from old PC to a new PC (Activation problem)

    Hello,

I'm trying to move Windows 10 Pro digital license connected to Microsoft account, from an old PC to a new PC,

This was the slmgr -dlv results for the old PC license.

Old to new PC, can‘t activate Win11 Pro on new PC slmgr /upk 06f1f1fa-4913-486f-99c7-bf576977890c?upload=true.png

However, the problem was that I have followed several ways to remove this license from the old PC, but never managed to do so.

    1. In the Old PC: I tried the Command Prompt as administrator slmgr -upk, to uninstall the product key, Reset the PC (fully remove all account info), unlink Microsoft Account from the Old PC. After all the work, however the Activation bar still says "Windows is activated with a digital license". (After restarts, still the same problem). I try to activate the new PC to hoping it will transfer it.

    2. In the New PC: Since the pc is store bought. I think they have installed Windows with Volume license. So now I try to Reset the PC, enter with my Microsoft Account, and found:

Old to new PC, can‘t activate Win11 Pro on new PC slmgr /upk 157d311a-391a-4a9e-9af7-a5a55e486aeb?upload=true.png

I troubleshooted, and now it changes to:

Old to new PC, can‘t activate Win11 Pro on new PC slmgr /upk fb3db828-6730-45b5-8862-4502dc031e9a?upload=true.png

I try slmgr -dlv (this is the new PC), it gives these results:

Old to new PC, can‘t activate Win11 Pro on new PC slmgr /upk 6c041b2f-a2f0-45d4-95c9-4e1f5a3e7343?upload=true.png

It seems they are both Windows 10 Pro, but has different channels so the license can't transfer through. (Or maybe there's another problem I don't know of.)

I tried slmgr -upk, but it loops back to the beginning of number 2. (if I troubleshoot, then slmgr -dlv, the same results come out)

Now I'm wondering how to fix the problem. Is my old PC digital license still transferrable? Is my new PC bugged (so it keeps looking for Volume KMSClient Channel instead of Retail Channel?)

How do I fix the problem? Should I get help from the call-center to reactivate digital license on my new pc? (as some guides tells me to do so), or is there something else I need to do in the new PC. (fresh re-installation, etc.)

    Thanks.

Transfer Windows 10 Pro digital license to new PC build

I have built a new PC and I am trying to transfer my Windows 10 Pro license from my existing PC to the new one. Unfortunately, the license is not activating properly. I have deactivated the previous license by running the command "slmgr /upk" in an elevated
    (Run as Administrator) command prompt.

I can see that the license is now deactivated given the fact that the old PC is now asking me to activate. I still cannot, however, activate the license on the new PC. The original license was a Windows 7 Home Edition license that I had upgraded to Windows
10 Pro for free over the past few years. I am unable to use that original license as it's for a Home Edition license and not a Pro. I was, however, allowed to upgrade to Pro when Microsoft was offering the free upgrades. I also transferred the license to my
Microsoft Account, so I do not have a product key associated with Windows 10 Pro.

My plan is to transfer the SSD and HDDs in the old PC to the new and not use the old PC. I am unable, however, to activate the new PC. Any help would be much appreciated.
