Windows 10: Old Windows 10 Insiders product key not working...

I originally had a digital key for Windows 10 through the Insiders Program dated way back to the Windows 7 days with a product key ending in 2GYP4 on an AMD based computer. I had to build a new computer because that one overheated and major components melted. I wasn't thinking of it back then and I installed a new copy from CD using that CD Key ending in 33WXF. The question I have is, is the old key ending in 2GYP4 still usabe for installs or has it become inactive because the PC it was connected to has pretty much disappeared from existance?Interesting note: On my current PC, Magical Jelly

I just did a deployment last night with a fresh 10 install using the newest ISO and a 7 Pro key, worked like a charm. Glad yours worked for you as well. *Toast :toast:

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

 

Free upgrade still working using old keys


Windows 10 free upgrade offer still works. I tested today. First I installed and activated Windows 8.1 (I used an old Windows 8 key that had never been used) and after this I upgrade to Windows 10.

Note that Windows 10 upgrade installation does not accept Windows 7/8.x product key, so you need to select the option I'm reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC (see screenshot below).





You can also clean install Windows 10 and activate it directly with your unused Windows 7/8.x product key.
